A truly unique boat !

« Roquette » is a classic, 43ft racing sloop constructed in 1964, designed and constructed by Peter Nicholson in response to the American challenge in the Admiral’s Cup.

Considered very innovative for its time, this extremely robust offshore « ocean racer », sailed in person by its architect, fulfilled all expectations in winning every race in the year it was launched…

“Rocquette is a distinctly new type of offshore racer”
Yachting World Annual, 1966

Peter Nicholson’s own personal boat, Rocquette was sold in early 1965 to a new owner.

A “classic” that needs to be sailed

Rocquette will go on to compete in forty races, sailed by a passionate crew and, until the early 70s, will sail the length and breadth of the western Atlantic from Ireland to Spain.

« I believe Rocquette is the strongest ocean racing hull we have built for ten years. »
Peter Nicholson, Yachting World , october 64.

Once again the boat finds a new owner exploring Mediterranean islands and competing in regattas.

Rocquette now has its home port in Douarnenez, in Brittany, and sails between Galicia and Scotland.

The pages” Genesis” and “Races”  give more details of this and tell of an exciting Channel crossing in 2016.
